Dr. Eric Menell

 Vice President, Operations

It is an incredible honor to represent the synagogue as Operations Vice President.  I have been part of the CBI family since 2004 and am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.

Up until July 2015 I have been serving as a trustee, Chairman of the Security Committee and Chairman of the Technology Committee. I additionally served as a member of the House Committee and Youth Commission. I have recently overseen projects at CBI including comprehensive security improvements; the design and implementation of the website, ecommerce and social media presence and building-wide technology enhancements. Previously, I have served as the USY Director and as part of the religious school staff.

Professionally, I am a high school history teacher and hold my doctorate in Educational Leadership. My previous professional experience includes extensive work with Jewish non-profit agencies, including senior leadership roles in youth programming, operations, marketing, special events planning and recreation.

ELLEN LEVINE2Ellen Levine

Vice President, Education

My husband, Dan, and I have resided in Little Silver for 46 years and have been members of CBI since the early 1970’s. Our two children attended the nursery school, Hebrew school, had their Bat and Bar Mitzvahs and graduated fromthe CBI Hebrew high school. Both of them spent their summers in Israel between their junior and senior year of high school.  We are the proud grandparents of 4 ranging in age from 13 to 8. Life doesn’t get better than that.

My participation in the Education field began in the public schools teaching first grade. Then in the mid- seventies, I became the Director of our nursery school here at CBI for many years. At the same time, I taught kindergarten and preschool classes in our Sunday school. I also taught special needs students for a year in the Fair Haven public schools and later returned to Eatontown where I taught kindergarten, second grade, basic skills and finally for the last ten years of my teaching career taught 5thgrade in the Eatontown public schools.

A few years ago, I was asked to join the CBI Board of Education and later became the co-Chairperson and finally the Chairperson of the board.

On a volunteer basis, I am a life member of Red Bank Hadassah having served many positions on their executive board and am a past President. I continue to assist the chapter as Certificate Chairperson. I have also worked on the CBI Memorial book for the past three years. Outside of CBI, I am an RSVP reader through Jewish Family Services and read weekly in both the Atlantic Highlands and Highlands Elementary Schools. Along with other tutors twice a week I assist at St. Anthony’s Church’s Family Literacy  class helping parents learn English, thus helping them to assist their children academically.

My life is full of wonderful things. I am excited to be an officer of CBI and hope that in some small way I can make a difference and assist CBI through these next few challenging years. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve CBI in this capacity.

 Vice President, Finance

Hi. I’m Dr. Andrew Burstiner, and I’m delighted to be VP Finance at Congregation B’nai Israel for 2015-16.

Many of you know me as a pediatrician in our area, first in Red Bank, then Eatontown, and now in Hazlet over the last two decades.  I’ve had the privilege of caring for many of your children over the years.

My wife, Michele Jacobson, a senior partner with the New York law firm Stroock, our children, Daniel and Rachel, and I have been continuous CBI members since our family settled in this community in 1994.  Our children, now young adults, grew up in the congregation; starting with two year old Ima and Me, then Gan Nursery school, Religious school with proud B’nai Mitzvot celebrations, and, lastly, Hebrew High School.

Our family has always strongly supported the many synagogue programs and needs that have allowed CBI to meet its congregational mission. I have been privileged to be a member of the finance committee working closely with Art Becker and the other members  helping ensure and meet the fiscal needs and viability of the congregation.  I look forward to continuing and expanding this challenging work over this year.

Lynn EinbinderLynn Einbinder

Secretary

My husband, Jay, and I joined CBI in 1972 with our three little children and have happily been members ever since. Our children all attended Hebrew School through Hebrew High School, graduating as Valedictorian and Salutatorian of their respective classes. They were all Torah Readers and were active in Kadima and USY as Vice-President and President of each CBI organization. I too became active in Sisterhood and became its President in 1974 while also teaching in our Hebrew School under Dr. Barbara Rosoff. After a few years, I was asked to assume the 2nd Vice-Presidency of the congregation which I held for two years. It was then that I decided to return to teaching in the public school system where I taught for 30 years in Middletown Township and had the pleasure to have had several CBI children in my classes. At Thompson Middle School I was Vice-President, then President of Alpha Delta Kappa, the National Honor Society of Teachers, was the Security Officer and was honored to be named as Teacher of the Year.  I was also Vice-President of Red Bank Hadassah and am a lifetime member. While we lived in Little Silver I was Board Secretary of Alderbrook Condominium Board of Trustees and now that we live in Ocean Township, I was a member of the Social Committee and Chairman of the Judiciary Committee of Nobility Crest Condominium. Nearly two years ago I was so happy to finally become Bat Mitzvah with my three B'not Mitzvah sisters, Fran, Iris and Eve, and have become a Torah Reader.  Currently, I am Chairman of our wonderful Library Committee at CBI and have served as Secretary of the Board of Trustees starting in 2014-2015. It is my pleasure to continue to serve as Secretary for CBI for 2015-2016.
