Past News

On March 22, 2015, the Community Outreach Committee raised money for Jewish Family Services through its baby blanket and knitted items sale.  A huge thanks to our knitters: the Barabas Family, Nancy Postelnek and Dora DeMichael.  The morning was tremendous fun and Jewish Family Services is very grateful to the CBI family for their generous donation toward their Passover drive.  The Community Outreach Committee would like to thank everyone who purchased a blanket, purchased and donated a blanket to JFS so they can give it to a needy family, and to those who did not purchase any items but who made an online donation to the cause.  Through your support, CBI was able to make a difference to the local Jewish community for those who cannot shop for Passover, and also to the greater Asbury Park community that is in need.  All of the beautiful and generously donated blankets which were not sold at this event were donated to the JFS where they can do the most good.  To those who started knitting/crocheting blankets and did not complete them in time, all is not lost.  As soon as your blanket is completed, I will personally take it over to JFS so they can donate it to a needy family. Just leave it at CBI in the Community Outreach Committee box, or contact me so I can make the arrangements with you.

I am very excited to announce that a three-year effort to coordinate a special event is now a reality.  On May 27, 2015, the Community Outreach Committee hosted CBI’s first (and hopefully ongoing) annual Clergy Mayor Luncheon.  The local clergy and the mayors of the four boroughs, Rumson, Fair Haven, Little Silver and Red Bank participated in an informal luncheon at CBI.  It is hoped that this will be the first of many events which will encourage ongoing dialog between the clergy and local government in the four boroughs, the intersection at which CBI is located.

The Community Outreach Committee has no budget and operates entirely without profit.  All money that is raised for any cause is given entirely over to the causes which it supports.  If anyone would like to help sponsor any events that it holds, please make a donation payable to “CBI Community of Caring” and write the event in the memo line. There is a Community Outreach inbox in the office.  Or, you can make a donation online by clicking on the Donate Now link at the top of this page, choosing “Community of Caring” from the drop-down menu and then writing “Community Outreach Luncheon” in the notes box.  All sponsors will be acknowledged by name (unless they choose not to be) at the event.

As always, I personally thank you for your ongoing support of the Community Outreach Committee.  We welcome your time and your ideas for future events, and we sincerely thank you for your ongoing support of our mission to be a visible partner to the greater four boroughs community and surrounding areas.

Thanks again.
