Meet Our Director

Susan Alderson

Susan Alderson joined the CBI team as Youth Director in 2007. Her family had recently become members, and it was quickly evident that her creative talents and energy would be an important ingredient in the work already in progress, building and re-energizing our youth programs.

Susan’s ability to develop programs, organize and collaborate has resulted in the active participation of students in a variety of activities from grades K – 12. She has effectively applied her professional skills to the success and continuing development of youth programming at CBI.

Growing up in Teaneck, NJ, Susan was an active member of Kadima and USY at Congregation Beth Sholom and attended Frisch Hebrew High School in Paramus, NJ. Susan was a Hillel member at Rutgers University during her college years. Traveling to Israel was a defining experience and one she hopes to repeat with her own daughters.

Susan participated in the Hazon New York Ride in 2012, 2013 and 2015, including being a member of the planning team for the 2013 event.  Her personal interest in the Jewish Environmental Movement is helping to shape the direction of programs at CBI.

Susan may be reached at, or in the Youth Office at ext. 210.
